I know the AWD E30s are not common, but I don’t know exactly how “not common”.

But adding AWD to a RWD is like...putting nuts in your ice cream. Some people say they like it but it doesn’t make the ice cream any better.

Did some searching.
Total US E30 325iX sales:
1987: 297
1988: 310
1989: 844
1990: 699
1991: 454
1992: 41
1993: 2
Total: 2,647 (29,589 worldwide)
Damn, that’s not a lot. I saw one the other week on I-70 while driving up to Winter Park. It had a couple snowboards on the roof.
Am jelly.

Doing more searching I’m coming up with two different sets of numbers. One says ~2,600 total, the other says ~3,700 total. Either way it’s not a lot.

And yet people complain about my AWD car because “it’s a FWD platform and we’re going to treat it like a FWD car even though 60% of the power goes to the back”

I think I’ve only seen one in Marin on the road personally. And Marin is a heavy hitter when it comes to BMW sales.

I’m guessing Audi’s newer awd? Audis were already longitudinal FWD though so I can see that being okay. But like a transverse AWD is eww. Plus it was FWD -> AWD, which is like...having a bowl of nuts, then adding spoonfuls of ice cream on top of it. It’s just better.
